Edward the Seconds at the ACT (2000)

gads. It was horrible. 

Goes to show that live action anal sex at the most
respected theatre in San Francisco will get an 
enthusiastic reception. (the A.C.T.)

On the plus side, they did not add anything to the
dialogue. Then again, they cut a good third of the play
and several characters.

I have no problem with playing up the homo erotic content
of a Marlowe play - it is unmistakable. However, the
buggery distracted somewhat from the dialogue and 
Marlowe did not have Edward II sucking face with a half 
dozen of the other actors. Castro free love was NOT what
Marlowe was about.

Go see it if you want to see Tom of Finland boys 
boffing eachother in Real Life, while doing bad Marlowe.

The acting was in general mediochre. I had such high
expectations as the artistic director was the same 
woman that did Hecuba a couple years ago (which btw
was amazing amazing amazing). 

I think it would have made a better cabaret act somewhere
in north beach.
